Junkologie Blog Party & T2T Auction Items

to Treasure

Pretty gross before picture, don't ya think?  This step stool was sold as part of a pile of junk at a recent auction, but it was just too yucky for the purchaser, so he left it behind.  I felt sorry for the poor little abandoned stool and took it home.

A little TLC including a good scrubbing, major sanding, a couple of coats of fresh paint, plus a little burlap for accent, and it is junk reborn!

Just step up to the plate and have s piece of fresh baked wheat bread with a little Bruumel and Brown strawberry spread.  Yum!

And here it is in use at the Junkologie blog party during Gold Rush in Oronoco last Friday.

The color looks bad on this photo but I am not taking it again (lazy).  This is a cabinet door from the Restore.  The insert is painted with custom color chalk board paint in a soft sage green.  The border is creamy white and the outside edge is butter yellow.  At the top are 1 sage and 2 yellow buttons.  Along each side is a hook, a clothes pin that is painted yellow on the outside and sage on the inside and finally a vintage thread spool painted sage and sporting a little white button.  Also at the bottom is a Scrabble tile holder painted (you guessed it) sage and butter yellow to hold a piece of chalk.

The final item is a serving tray with a copy of an old map of North America.

I will leave you with a few pictures of the Junkologie Blog Party from last Friday.  See if you can recognize anyone!!

Online friends get a chance to meet in person -- the whole idea behind a blog party!!!

Camping in style!!

Don't miss the trash to treasure auction this Friday.  Wine tasting and live music start at 4:30.  This year we are featuring local wines from Cannon River Winery of Cannon Falls, Danzinger Vineyards of Alma, WI, Garvin Heights Vineyards of Winona, Whitewater Wines of Plainview and Salem Glen Vineyard and Winery, of Rochester.  See you there!!

Cool Junk for the Auction

The T2T auction is only two weeks away!! I've been busy doing all those "re" words -- recycle, repurpose, restyle, rehab, recreate...

Anyway, here are a few of my creations for the auction.  Remember this pile of parts?

Best guess on the stainless steel pan is that it is from a cream separator.  Note the $1.00 yellow price sticker!

Make a few measurements, attach 12 dominoes with Gorilla Glue, drill a hole in the middle,

and pop in a battery operated clock.  Looks like it's time for a game of dominoes!

A couple of thrift store mirrors, a little paint, a little Cricut.

A thrift store frame and a little Cricut.

This window was salvaged from the Moravian church in rural St. Charles.

I still have a few more projects to finish.  Two weeks is plenty of time!

Trash to Treasure Charity Auction 2010

The 7th Annual Trash to Treasure Auction and Wine Tasting Event is just around the corner.  Friday, August 27th to be exact. This annual event is sponsored by the St. Charles Women in Business and is held in conjunction with Gladiolus Days, the annual city celebration in St. Charles, MN.  (How did that sneak up on me so fast????)

This year for the wine tasting we are featuring wines from local wineries.  So far we have wine from Cannon River Winery, Garvin Heights Winery, Whitewater Wines and Danzinger Vineyards and Winery with wine from one or two more yet to come.  We also have a California wine labeled None in Eight with a pink ribbon  -- get it?  One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer.  This number is not acceptable.  Hence, the goal is None in Eight and a portion of the sale of each bottle is donated for breast cancer research.  I love it!

Here are some 'before' shots of a few of my treasures for the auction.  I'll have 'afters' for you next time.

Bring your friends, bring your checkbook and bring your friends' checkbooks to the south lawn of the Victorian Lace Inn -- 1512 Whitewater Avenue, St. Charles, MN on Friday, Aug. 27th. Wine tasting and auction preview start at 4:30 with music by the Bandanas, and the auction begins at 6:00 pm.
