Vintage Treasures Market Coming Soon!!

Our very first
Vintage Treasures Market
at the Victorian Lace Inn in St. Charles
is a mere three weeks away!
Woo-hoo! I am so looking forward to this event!!

There are vendors coming from Pine Island, Plainview, Spring Valley, Lakeville, and even Duluth and Eau Claire as well as several of us from right here in St. Charles. The doors open at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, June 19. This will be an awesome event! You don't want to miss it!!

I'll post a list of vendors in a few days. We can make room for a few more if any of you still haven't made your decision yet. But hurry - we are running out of time if you want your name and business included in the ads. Just leave a message here for me or shoot me an email and we will get you registered to be a vendor. This is going to be sooooo much fun!!!!!

Good Junk from My Favorite Farm

Aren't these buildings just the quaintest you have seen? I just love them! They are just two of the original buildings on the farm belonging to my cousin Louann.

She is in the process of cleaning out the buildings at the farm she bought from her parents, and recently invited me to dig through the junk in my uncle's garage workshop to see if there was anything I could use. I had been 'shopping' there about a year ago, too, and came home then with many treasures. This time was no different. There is a lot of good junk there and I will be going back again soon.

Here's part of what I brought home a few weeks ago.

Four turned table legs in a faded pink and black!

Two windows, two boxes, a plant stand in pieces, some horse shoes and the business end of a pitch fork.

A wonderfully chippy chair. See the large loose strip of paint in the center of the seat by the spindles? It's tape! Several layers of a couple of different kinds of tape that have been painted. Cool fix to a broken chair.

A chicken feeder and two small chick feeders.

And a heavy, very sturdy purple chair - nothing wrong with it - except it's purple!

I haven't had time to do a whole lot yet, but I did mess around a little bit. The flower 'pot' is one of the little chick feeders.

The plant stand was 3 pieces. I was going to use them all for something else, but when I started taking it apart to get all the screws out, it just seemed like I should put it back together again. It didn't want to be painted, either, even though I thought it should be black. Some things just speak to you.

Not every piece of junk needs to be repurposed into something else. Some things just beg to be restored to their former good looking selves.

Vintage Treasures Market Makes a Classy Move!

It's a woman's prerogative to change her mind, right? Well, put several women together and there are bound to be changes!!

After careful consideration of all the pros and cons, a decision was made to hold our Vintage Treasures Market
on the south lawn of the Victorian Lace Inn rather than at the fairgrounds as originally planned. Basically, the decision was based on three factors. First, there is greater general visibility to passing traffic at this location. Second, the ambiance is just soooooo much better. Really, would you rather shop for antiques, vintage treasures and other one-of-a-kind goodies in a pole barn or at a beautiful brick Victorian house and the adjoining yard?

I know, it's a no brainer. So, we will be in big tents (similar to those pictured here) on the lawn of the Victorian Lace Inn. [Oh, you are wondering about the third reason. Well, um, how do I say this politely? Nicer potties.]

And if this location looks and sounds familiar to you, it should! This is the same place where our Women in Business group holds our Trash to Treasure Charity Auction during St. Charles' Gladiolus Days in August. We will, of course, be doing that again this year -- our 6th year. These pictures are from last year's charity auction.

Meanwhile, mark your calendar for June 19th and 20th and be sure to come to the Vintage Treasures Market at 1512 Whitewater Avenue in beautiful St. Charles MN. There are vendor-artisans coming from Minnesota, Wisconsin and Iowa. Some of them specialize in vintage and antique pieces of the past. Others focus on things they have recycled, repurposed, and restyled into true one-of-a-kind pieces.

You really do need to come and see for yourself. Vintage treasures await you!!!

The Ultimate Re-purpose

I saw those parrots a while back. They are out in the middle of nowhere and really took me by surprise. Of course, I had to go back with my camera. I wonder how many people stop to take a picture.

Oh -- here is a little wider angle view.

It's a corn crib!! Don't ya just love it???
