I Do Love Me Some Baby Shoes

This is my very first pair.

Size zero, pink wool felt with pink satin ribbon laces and a tiny blue flower on the toe. Aren't they just precious? They were a gift from a 10-year old cousin when I was just a week old. And so began my life long love affair with shoes. With this pair to get me started, how could I not fall in love with shoes?

This pair followed soon after and was just a little bit bigger size. They were originally white leather. My Mom and Dad had them bronzed by the local jeweler for me many years ago.

I am drawn to baby shoes. There is just something so sweet about tiny shoes. Some of them beg to be pin cushions ...

... others just want to be a shoe.

Baby shoes -- ya gotta love 'em.

An Award from a Blog Friend!

A few days ago, Amy of WhisperWood Cottage honored me with a blog award. Amy is a friend and fellow junker that I met last September at the Junk Bonanza. She has the most interesting blog! Somehow even in the dead of winter in Duluth, Minnesota, she manages to find amazing junk.

THE LEMONADE AWARD
from
ALVN aka Amy of
WhisperWood Cottage

What this award is about...

Bloggers who show great attitude and gratitude.

What you have to do...

Upon receiving The Lemonade Award, you also pass it on to other bloggers who you think show great attitude and gratitude. Here are the rules:

1. Put the logo on your blog or post.

2. Nominate at least 10 blogs which show great Attitude and/or Gratitude!

3. Link to your nominees within your post.

4. Let them know that they have received this award by commenting on their blog.

5. Share the love and link to this post and to the person from whom you received your award.

Thank you, Amy! I am very honored. I really intended to "share the love" with the requisite 10 bloggers, but because I don't want to leave any deserving blogger out of this love fest, I am making this simple. Please just visit the blogs that are linked on my sidebar. They are all great. There are several other blogs I enjoy also, so I will try to add links to them over the course of the next few days.

How I Spent $2 Today

I dropped off a donation at my local thrift store today, and of course had to shop a bit before leaving. There is always something that catches my eye. This cute little jar is only about 3" tall. The sparklies are buttons. And more vintage buttons still on the cards. Original prices ranged from 15 to 70 cents.

Never know when you might need a nice big tapestry needle or an embroidery needle with a BIG eye.

I found a few kitchen goodies to use in an upcoming project. I've never seen a plain rectangle cookie cutter before (I probably lead a sheltered life).

A last but certainly not least, a Scrabble game complete with the board, wooden tile racks and all the tiles, plus a full box of wooden dominoes that look as though they have never been used.

Woo-hoo, what terrific finds for a mere TWO BUCKS for all of it! Can you believe it? I am going to have some fun with this stuff!

Hello from cold, snowy Chucktown!

Here it is the 13th of January and I have either been too busy to write or nothing has been going on so there is nothing to write about. Hmmm. Even I don’t know which is correct.

Ever since I took Emma’s Nook & Granny On the Go, the From the Heart Boutique in St. Charles has been one of the places where you could find me. This past weekend was the annual half price sale. Barb, the owner, usually holds this sale on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day; however, due to vacation schedules, this year’s sale was on Jan 10 and 11. We moved a lot of Christmas merchandise in two days! That sure makes getting the shop ready for the spring show a lot easier.

This year the spring boutique starts March 27 and runs for three weekends. That’s not that far away! We are open 9 am – 5 pm on Friday and Saturday and 11 am – 4 pm on Sunday. The last day is April 11, the Saturday before Easter.

We will have great garden goodies such as stepping stones and garden statues. Remember that beautiful red pottery I had in the fall? I will have some again plus some new … well, I can’t give it away just yet. Check back in a few weeks for a preview. Meanwhile, mark your calendars now for the spring boutique dates. You won’t want to miss the exciting new lines we have coming for spring!

It's way below zero today so I am staying indoors. Maybe I will actually clear a path through my sewing room so I can get to my machine! I have oodles of projects calling out to me.

Stay warm,

Marge
