Monday's Finds

In the spirit of "don't waste a trip to the city for just one thing," I went junking after my appointment with the dentist on Monday. I visited an antique store, a brand spankin' new Salvation Army that opened last Friday and a couple of other shops in Winona. The SA yielded these 2 great old music books. I love to decouplage with music, but these 2 hard cover books are a little too nice to destroy for decoupage. I'll have to leave them as found.

On the way back to St. Charles, I stopped at Vi's Antiques in Stockton. What a nice lady she is! She was completely flooded out of her home and shop during the monster flood of August 07. After much renovation and living in a FEMA trailer for months, she is back in business. I think her shop is better than ever! I found some great things there that will work their way into my booth at Vintage Treasures Market in June in one fashion or another. If you are ever in the area, stop in to see Vi and her sweet shop.

Don't you just love those keys? There are 45 of them all old and oh so cute! Hmmmm - what do they want to be?

Photos, photos and more photos!

Here are the pictures I promised of yesterday's spring opening of From the Heart Boutique. This cute little shop is all decked out in pastel spring finery. You will find exactly what you need to add that touch of spring to your home -- soft yellows, blues, greens, lavenders and pinks. And if you are looking for Easter decor, there are more bunnies, chicks and duckies than you can imagine!

There are lots of new items in the the Tuscan room and new dips and cheese ball mixes in the kitchen.

The primitive room is my favorite because it is in the style of Emma's Nook & Granny. I have a lot of new pottery in that room.

I have many new items throughout the rest of the shop including the awesome red pottery everyone loves.

And new for spring is pottery in green. It's gorgeous, too!

If you are looking for a spring hand-painted barrel top, hurry in as the supply is limited!

From the Heart Boutique Opened Today!

That's right, From the Heart Boutique opened this morning, so it must be spring!

I took a bunch of pictures and will post them hopefully in the morning. I need to crop, resize and all that stuff. I just don't seem to have time for all the things I need to do today.

One of the things I want to tell you today is that Ki from Junk Revolution is giving away this awesome Junk Queen necklace.

Be sure to follow the instructions for entering the contest to win the necklace.

Time for a quick early supper with my favorite sister and her hubby then we'll settle in to watch the state high school basketball tournaments. Plainview/Elgin/Millville where sister-in-law Tracy Moran teaches, is playing in the semifinals and they are HOT! Should be an exciting game to watch.

Oh ya, remind me to tell you about the fashion statement I made today when we took Ron's mom to Mayo Clinic for a check-up. I swear, I am one step closer to being locked up in a rubber room.

Here it is -- the big announcement I promised!
As hinted earlier,
the famous Pfarkel Sisters
(Sharon Vreeman, Dianne Perry & Janell Kraut) of
Junk re{defined}
and Marge Utley of
Emma's Nook & Granny

(hey, that's me!) have once again teamed up,
this time to bring you

Vintage Treasures Market
a two-day indoor market featuring
one-of-a-kind cottage, vintage, antique
and repurposed wares.

Friday and Saturday, June 19 and 20
at the Winona County Fair Grounds in

St. Charles, Minnesota

This market will feature vendor-artisans from Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa and beyond who have been hand selected to participate because of their style and the quality of merchandise they sell.

Some vendors specialize in vintage and antique pieces of the past. Others focus on things they have recycled, repurposed and restyled into true one-of-a-kind pieces.

No matter what you prefer, you are sure to find something in your particular style, be it chippy cottage, primitive, Victorian, country, industrial ...... you just have to come to see for yourself!

In addition to awesome decorative items, there will also be a fair share of "raw materials" for you junkers who are looking for unique parts to construct your own trash to treasure items.

Come visit us in St. Charles in the beautiful
Whitewater River valley in southeast Minnesota.
Vintage treasures await you.

Ahh, spring

Here it is the middle of March and this is my first post of the month. Life events have kept me challenged these past few weeks, but I think we are on an upswing now.

I heard blue birds and red winged blackbirds singing at the top of their little bird lungs yesterday outside my back door. Spring - I think it is really coming! We were over 60* yesterday and will be again today. Ya gotta love it!

I have no new projects to share, so in the spirit of spring, here are a few pictures from Emma's Nook & Granny last April. Sometimes I really do miss my shop, BUT there is an exciting new venture on the horizon in St. Charles for those of us who love antiques, vintage treasures and just plain good junk. This event will be fabulous!! I'll share the details very soon. Until then, meet some of my old bunny and chick friends.
