October is flying by. It's already the 12th!! Just happens to be our 33rd wedding anniversary. What a wonderful day!
So far our 'awareness events' have been very successful and a lot of fun. A whole lot of ladies went home from the Victorian Lace Tea Room with new to them purses earlier this week. Katie Zahasky from Mayo's oncology department gave us a lot of good information, including the latest on new breast cancer treatments and options.
Woo-hoo Wednesday was fun once again. We had sugar cookies from the local bakery, each with a pink awareness ribbon for a treat. Barb Rasmussen of From the Heart Boutique provided a nice basket of goodies as a door prize. The winner was selected from the names of those who attended the Diva Purse Party the previous night and from those who came to Emma's for Woo-hoo Wednesday. Mary Babcock of St. Charles was the winner. Congrats Mary!
Yesterday, several of us went to Aspasia for our pink hair extensions. I really like mine and may have to get a red one for the upcoming holidays!
The Bosom Buddies of St. Charles have raised a couple hundred dollars so far. Not a lot of money, but our focus right now is on awareness. So if we can prompt a few women to do monthly self exams, have a checkup and get mammograms, that will be good. Until there is a cure, it is all about EARLY DETECTION. So don't delay -- make that appointment today!!
