Glad Days & Trash to Treasure Auction

Date: 8/9/2007
Gladiolus Days is the annual celebration held each year by the city of St. Charles. This years’ celebration is Aug 21-26 with the theme, “St. Charles … Gateway to Whitewater,” in reference to beautiful nearby Whitewater State Park.

Events during Glad Days include a 10k run, street dances, craft show and flea market and a car show, culminating with the grand parade on Sunday. But the biggest event in town is the

4th Annual Trash to Treasure Charity Auction and Wine Tasting Event sponsored by the St. Charles Women in Business. It all takes place Friday evening, August 24th pm under the big white tent on the south lawn of the Victorian Lace Inn at 1512 Whitewater Avenue, St. Charles, MN. Wine Tasting & Appetizers begin at 4:30 ($10 donation, please) with music by the Bandanas. The live auction begins at 6:00. There is also a silent auction of items donated by area individuals and businesses that runs throughout the evening.

We Women in Business are very resourceful. We have curbside shopping down to an art. We can find “potential treasures” in a $1.00 box of junk purchased at an auction. So, after hours of work turning other peoples’ cast-offs, junk and trash into something beautiful and useful, we can relax, have fun with friends and neighbors, enjoy a little wine and raise money for a most worthy cause.

Everyone has a great time at the event, even Glenn, the auctioneer. Our silent auction has seen a quart jar of pickles sell for $35. Bidding wars have erupted over items such as a garden bench and a floral arrangement in an old watering can. We hope to raise even more money this year for breast cancer research and with your help we can do it. Please come, socialize with friends and bid like you have never bid before!
