Great weekend shopping coming up!

My favorite burlap and lace pillow was featured in last weekend's Post Bulletin.   Antiques and Collectibles: Pillows add charm and nostalgia    How cool is that!  This picture was in the newspaper but isn't in the online version.

Author Sandy Erdman also wrote the article that included my pink-purple chair a few weeks ago. Antiques & Collectibles: 'Make do' with your own unique creation

The burlap pillow (as well as several other pillows and a whole lot of other great stuff!) is for sale at From the Heart Boutique.  This is the green cottage tucked behind the Hardware Hank in St. Charles.  From the Heart is open for three weekends, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from March 19 through April 3.

The chair is for sale at the Junk {Re}defined & Friends Spring Sale.  This sale features vintage and antique finds plus items that have been rescued and given new life.  Sorry, I still don't have pre-sale pictures, but Sharon has several of them on the Junk {Re}defined blog.

Here is a little collage/assemblage art for you -- available at From the Heart.

Be sure to shop at both locations this weekend!!

My Pink- Purple Chair in the News

Look what was in the Rochester Post Bulletin today -- my pink-purple chair!

It was a simple little purple chair when I acquired it.

I don't really care for purple, so I jazzed it up a bit with some hot pink paint. Don't ya just love it?

I like the flowers in the chick feeder, too.  The chair and chick feeder came from the same farm.  Both are available for purchase at the Junk {Re}defined spring sale on March 19 and 20.  That's one of the places you will find Emma's Nook & Granny On the Go this spring.

The Junk {Re}defined sale, a Pfarkel Sisters' production, is located at the Victorian Lace Inn, 1512 Whitewater Avenue.  This sale features antiques and vintage wares plus many items that have been repurposed, recycled or rehabbed in one fashion or another.  There will be numerous one-of-a-kind items for you to use in any room in your home.

Opening that same weekend is the spring boutique at From the Heart where you will find rooms full of fresh, new spring merchandise, including many handmade creations by local artisans.  Come see the new spring look at From the Heart!

Emma's Nook & Granny On the Go will have great treasures for you to purchase at both locations.

Come to St. Charles for a unique shopping experience!

Pillows, Pillows and More Pillows!

I've been working on falling in love with my new sewing machine.  Here are more pillows as a result of my love fest.

I didn't like this toile and ticking pillow I made a few days ago with the three black buttons on it, so I took them off and added handmade fabric rosettes.  Better!!

Stencils.  I like the look but didn't like stenciling!  I will have to experiment with a few other techniques.

I just like this pillow -- burlap, lace and a flower!

And more pillows from vintage feed sacks.  Cute!

These and more pillows will be available for sale at From the Heart spring boutique and at Junk {re}defined with the Pfarkel Sisters.  Both are in St. Charles and open March 19.  Check Emma's Nook & Granny On the Go on my sidebar or email me for details.   I will ship, too, if you can't make it to St. Charles for either sale.  Just email  me for prices and let me know which pillows you want!

Pillow Love

There was a loud pop, a lonnnng sizzle and then a whole lotta smoke smelling like fried electronics.  Ugh.  My sewing machine was toast.  Burned toast.

The repairman said there was no hope, so after a proper but short period of mourning (I can't be without a sewing machine for more than a few days), I bought a new machine.  I am now spending quality time in my sewing room bonding with my new Baby Lock in hopes of falling in love with it.  I keep telling myself it is a lovely machine that will do anything I want of it, but every once in a while (like when I try to raise the presser foot with my left hand instead of my right), some nagging little voice inside me says, "It's no Viking."  Why is change always to hard?  I hate learning a whole new machine, especially since I truly loved my old one.  Enough.  I will love my Baby Lock.  That's all there is to it.  And see the pretty pillows I have made?  It's a wonderful sewing machine, right?

Vintage burlap feed sack and ribbed fabric pillows, one wearing a vintage crocheted collar.

Burlap and lace -- don't you love it?

White on white - with ruffles!

Ticking and toile.

The back - envelope style for easy removal of the pillow insert.

I'm liking this new Baby Lock more every day. Stay tuned -- there are more pillows on the horizon!
